Bi/Multi-lateral Training in Italy

The ODC OPA Division will facilitate units coordinating every facet of bi/multi-lateral (and in limited cases, unilateral) training with Italian forces. They can help units with what it takes to succeed. Just as important, ODC OPA Rome can point out where efforts have the least or most likelihood of succeeding before investing a great deal of resources to the planning phase. Whether it’s bi-lateral or multi-lateral/national training for U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force or Special Forces, the Office of Defense Cooperation's Operations, Plans and Agreements Division in Rome is the place to start the process. To obtain support, simply contact the personnel listed in the "Staff Functions and Personnel" section. We will gladly discuss your units request, suggest a plan of attack, make the appropriate coordination and arrange meetings to ensure your activity has the highest potential for success. The procedural flow requires the following main, but generic steps:

1. All actions must be requested and coordinated through message traffic addressed to ODC Rome (ODC ROME IT). Email and phone calls will not be used for any coordination.

2. The farther out the activity is planned and worked, the greater the chances of success become. Minor or routine request can be worked with 60 days notice. Major activities, non-emergency, or wartime requests require at lease 120 and longer depending upon the activity.

3. Authorization or approval of your request is not blanket coverage for all aspects of the activity or operation. All personal and aircraft must obtain clearance. Weapons and hazardous material also require clearance.
